Local charity TwentyTwenty races towards their £12,000 target at this year’s eXtreme charity event. Twenty Twenty is an award winning charity (Centre for Social Justice Award Winner 2012) set up in 2007 in response to an overwhelming number of local young people who were not in education, employment or training whose needs were not being addressed.

Some young people face disadvantages that make staying in school or college, or finding a job difficult. With support from our Lifeskills Centres in the East Midlands and our outreach projects working across the area, these young people find new confidence, earn the right qualifications and develop skills and attitudes needed to be successful. Last year we reached over 400 young people aged 10-19, 90% of whom made significant progress in their lives. This year we’re set to work with even more.

Because of our successful partnership with Xrunner, if you choose to fundraise for TwentyTwenty and raise at least £150, you will get your entry fees completely reimbursed. Run for free sign up now.

Mike Hughes from TwentyTwenty said “We have had a fantastic response to the outstanding Xrunner events in previous years, and plan to build that up each year. This year we have a team of local dignitaries taking part in full business suits to show how much they believe in the work we do and to raise as much money as they can!  This year, we’re looking to raise a minimum of £12000. Every £1000 we raise is another disadvantaged and disengaged young person that we can educate and support, so please join in!”

This year, some of the young people that Twenty Twenty helps will volunteer as marshals at the Xrunner races.  This is a great way to get young people involved in a healthy outdoor sporting activity and to give something back to the people who have tirelessly fundraised on their behalf.

Event Organiser Steve Walker from Xrunner says “The popularity of obstacle races is growing at a fantastic rate and I think it’s great that a good number of these guys are doing it for charity.  Although I hope they know what they are letting themselves in for, there are over 45 obstacle challenges in the 10k runs including water slides, giant walls to climb over, cargo nets and a horrible swamp of doom to wade through.  The guys from TwentyTwenty are really dedicated to their cause and have my full support!  It’s great that the kids want to get involved and I fully support the idea.  So far Xrunner has raised and helped others to raise nearly £100,000 for charity and will continue to do so each year as the number of events we offer increases as demand from competitors continues to grow.”
